Case Study
Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas
Inspired by European football teams websites, I aimed to enhance the usability and design standards of the Botafogo website, while maintaining classic features from the old version and incorporating essential features that are crucial for a football club.

This project was built using

Javascript
Biggest problems in the old version
  • The header design suffers from mixed-up logos and interactive elements, is also overloaded with too many logos causing visual clutter, and the navigation bar with 48 redundant options, leading to a less-than-optimal user experience.
  • The website design has almost no white space, making it look cluttered.
  • The uniform design in the mini-store lacks interactivity and appears monotonous, failing to utilize attention-grabbing elements essential for maximizing sales and customer engagement.
  • Important features, such as the upcoming matches, are nearly hidden as the content is displayed vertically within a toggle button.
  • Solutions
  • The interactive elements have been organized using white space and hierarchy, non-essential logos have been removed, the number of redundant options has been reduced, and efforts have been made to make the main navigation options more intuitive to enhance the user experience.
  • A toggle version of the search bar was implemented to create more space.
  • The header disappears when scrolling down, providing a wider view of the page. When scrolling up, a smaller version of the header appears.
  • A more visually appealing version of the featured news, aimed at enhancing user interaction.
  • An essential feature for football clubs, which Botafogo previously lacked, allowing users to view past and current matches, purchase tickets, and access the team's current competition standings
  • A more interactive store, utilizing player images to showcase uniforms and incorporating uniform patterns as a design element for repetition
  • A cleaner support and sponsors section
  • Including references to the club's old emblems and nickname above the footer to strengthen the club's visual identity
  • A more organized and readable footer section
